Cambridge's earliest major developments were witnessed during the invasion of Britain by the Romans. This was about 40 AD. The Castle Hill in Cambridge made it a useful military outpost. This was used by the military men to defend the famous river cam. It was also a very useful point for crossing over as it linked Col Chester with the Lincoln garrisons on the north. It remained the main center for the region for 50 years after the Roman invasion and occupation.

The modern Cambridge is a university city and the center for Cambridge shire county administration. It is known worldwide for being the home of the famous university of Cambridge. It lies east of Anglia approximately 50 miles north-eastern part of London. It is at the center of high technology area that is commonly referred to as Silicon Fen.

Cambridge is an all season city with beautiful museums and many art galleries. While in Cambridge, you can admire beautiful architecture used in the construction of majestic buildings of the college.

Cavendish laboratory, Cambridge university library and King's college chapel are the main buildings which dominate the Cambridge skyline. These are then followed by the Addenbrooke's hospital chimney in the southern part of the city and St. John's college tower on the Northern side.
